NEW YORK MOVE OVER LAW
Since Jan. 1, 2012, New York's “move over” law, which already covered police and ambulances, now requires drivers to move over when approaching tow trucks and other vehicles working on the side of the road. The law protects law enforcement officers, emergency workers, tow and service vehicle operators and other maintenance workers who are stopped on the side of the road performing their duties. Drivers who violate this law are susceptible to a moving violation.
